In the morning, volunteers work on projects to improve the learning environment in the school. In the afternoon, volunteers reflect on the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and take action to honor and make real his vision for justice and equity! Last January, nearly 300 volunteers representing thirty community and faith-based organizations completed more than 20 projects to benefit the Blackstone Elementary School.
This year, projects will also be happening at St. Stephen’s Youth Programs to improve the library and literacy programs of the B-READY afterschool program! Our focus at the Blackstone School will be on creating welcoming and safe common areas and healthy spaces for all kinds of learners, especially those who are sensory-sensitive.
Last year, we had a number of people from REUNION show up and volunteer and meet others in the community and different organizations.
